Rules & Regulations 09ff6df4f5bceaa52cf1c18e339590e4-1

Intro:

Lets keep our intro short but accurate, This thread sums up most of the rules one is expected to follow. I do not wish to bore people out with these rules, so it is not mandatory to read them upon entering this RP.
However, if you're send here specifically, then you probably broke a rule at least once - in that case please read stuff through properly. I will expect people to know how things work out since I believe in common sense, so if you break these rules I will just assume you did read them (meaning you can't go along the lines of "but I didn't know!" ). That means if you continue to break the rules, even if you call it mere mistakes, I will resort to a ban if neccessary.

Basic Site Rules

These rules should be obvious if you think about it, you probably already are aware of it, but I'll state them Anyway. At times there are loopholes around some of them, so I can't punish you or don't notice the rulebreak - which might be for the better in some cases.

Inadequate content:

Please refrain from posting any inadequate content, with that I mean stuff that is:

  • Sexual and/or pornographic
  • Violent or repulsive
  • Hateful or abusive
  • Defamatory and/or affecting the integrity of a person
Please refrain from posting any of the like around here. This includes using both images or simply words, meaning the Forums and the Chatbox. Ofcourse I cannot check all PM's or the entire archives of the chatbox all the time, but please don't take advantage of that.

Show some Respect

Show some Respect towards the other members, especialy people like Admins and mods. Why? because you surely would prefer being treated nicely aswell, besides, if you piss off the mods or Admin they can screw you over hard.
If there is an Issue that needs to be resolved, try to be friendly and refrain from throwing around insults.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Do not spam

Keep yourself from flooding areas with useless posts, if you have verbal diarrhea (it its written form to be more precise) then do it in a place its allowed at. Especialy our Rules, Announcements and Encyclopedia area. If there arent specific threads asking for your posts, it'd be appreciated if you kept yourself from posting here at all.

PS: please dont spam on the chatbox either, its frustrating if someone copies long texts/many messages into the chatbox and pushed all other messages out of the way.

How to Write

For those of you who are new to RPing, or those who have already adapted to their own writing style: There is a set of things you have to consider if you wish to jump into the story and roleplay your heart out. The following rules are mandatory, this is not a guide but the rules you need to follow - so do eet.

_______________________________________________________________________

Naration Perspective

In general you will be writing in a 3rd person POV if talking about events, ofcourse you are open to display the narrator in diffrent ways, such as making him be as oblivious as the character or make him describe things the way the char would.

You did it Wrong if you wrote:I was pretty sure my opponent would not be able to block, so I went full force.

*taking a chug and spitting it out right away*
you did it rightif you wrote:He was pretty sure his opponent would not be able to block, putting everything he had into the next strike.

He took a chug from the mug and spat it out right away.

direct speech, shouting, whispering and thoughts

If your character is saying something himself, shouting or whispering, please use indicators for it. for speaking, shouting and whispering you can allways use these here --> " " <--
You're free to chose how to display certain ways of speaking as long as theindicator isnt used for something else normaly. For thoughts I reccomend using italics.

You did it Wrong if you wrote:You suck, I said loudly. Do you want to know why? because , I stopped shortly thinking of the right words. I continued with i forgot what I wanted to say...
you did it rightif you wrote: He let out a frustrated sigh. "listen up, because I won't say it again, okay?" He took a deep breath. 'I swear, this guy is the worst...' he thought before speaking up again ...

"SHUT UP!" he roared at the tiny figure in front of him.She merely smiled at him, leaning closer. She began to whisper towards him.
"You should do something about your temper, you know. no offense though."

OOC - Out of Character

things that are out of Charater are written inside brackets. that includes health deduction (preferably at the end of the post) comments about other posts or notifications. That way you can notify people of something, please from making many pure OOC posts though, in some cases a PM or using the chatbox would be wiser.

as an example what someone could have wrote:

Leneor walked through the darkness, looking around (he has good eyes, he can see quite well in the dark) spotting his target easily. He did miss the large stone on the ground however, he tripped and hurt his head on a wall opposing wall. Hard.

(Health -15)
(oh yeah, btw, i'll be away till next week)

Languages

If your character is speaking in some kind of foreign language, please make it visible. how? you can use color, or just realy use a diffrent language than english from the start. If you dont intend them actually saying anything important and just have said something, you can just say so from the narrative perspective.

Godmoding & Metagaming

For those unaware of what the term means, I'll explain each, what you should know however that both mean something BAD. So don't do the following, or get used to other RPers avoiding or ignoring you.

Metagaming - when applied to a RP context it is used to describe a players' use of assumed characteristics of the game. In particular, metagaming often refers to having a character act on knowledge that only the player has access to. Like knowing what the opponents spell does without ever seein it.

godmodding - when applied to a RP context it is used to describe a players acting in manner where they are not bound or limited by anything (such as their Characters inability to do something) and show no regard for the actions of other people.
Often this also includes saying they did something they cannot decide, like having injured another character they have no control over.

[/center]

Literacy

We know that everyone has a diffrent level of literacy, meaning that people aren't allways as skilled as other writers. This especialy counts for newby's who have just trotted into the world of RPing, aswell as inexpirienced ones who dont have enough skill yet.
If you consider yourself one, feel free to say so and the staff would love to help you gain your own writing style and give some tips and hints how to improve.

Still to get back to the rules: there are a few things that are a must do. For one, the length of your posts should be big enough for others to work with it. So a bare minimum of 6 sentences. There is no particular upper limit, but if you intend on writing books: some people won't bother even starting to read.
Along with the length there is another Issue: spelling mistakes. Frankly, to me it aint one if I know what you want to explain or say, but if your post is full of spelling mistakes that make it impossible to read I will make you write it again and again untill its readable. And that IS a rulebreak btw.
