basic personality:

Varielle is a little bit introverted, since staying in her house in the forest and not going into town. She can be lonely and seemingly gloomy because of her loneliness. She does enjoy the peace, but she can get very lonely at times. When she meets someone, Varielle tends to try to push them away, as if she wants absolutely nothing to do with whoever it is. It's just that Varielle feels uncomfortable at first with meeting new people and usually finds it hard to trust people. She does have a few friends, but it took her a while to fully open up to them.

Despite her introverted nature, Varielle can be warm and nice once she opens up. She can be easily offended however and become very defensive. She may act like a frail child, but she can put up a good fight when insulted or gets into a fight. With her few close friends, she is very caring of them. Varielle may also get suspiscious quickly if she meets someone new so she gets defensive from that too.

fears & weaknesses:
Varielle is terrified of lightning. Hearing loud crackles of it can cause her to go hiding. I think you could call this a weakness as well. Her witch powers are strong but, they tend to weaken just a bit during the daytime.

Magic: Shadow manipulation

Shadow Cover: This ability allows Varielle to manipulate the shadows of objects, which can help her with her stealth by manipulating it to go to a specific area where she can cross without being seen. This ability is more effective at night than it is during the day because the shadows are much more darker during the night which allows for better concealment.

Varielle can also use shadow manipulation to cause her surroundings to be enshrouded with shadow and can use that to often escape or to lead someone off course. This is also most effective at night, but can still be used during the daytime if she is in a building with low light conditions. She can't control the darkness of the shadows that she controls.

Shadow Hold: Finally Varielle can use shadows to keep people from moving. The only problem with this is that she needs to keep completely still and sturdy. If the person she is holding is much more stronger than her, they could break free from her shadow hold. Also, Varielle can only use this technique on individuals and not a whole group of people. She never uses this around a group of people because she will end up getting caught.

Varielle has very good night vision and stealth, from going out at night and exploring a little bit. At night, Varielle can see silhouettes from far distances, so she knows when someone is near and can easily sneak up and attack. She is excellent at her stealth, being able to follow people or make sneaky escapes with ease.

Varielle, when fighting is known to do quick attacks, so that the fights gets over quickly and she can make a quick escape. She has learned certain pressure points in the body which she can use to her advantage, which she usually uses to knock people out.

Lastly, Varielle has knowledge of certain poisons and their antidotes, having live in a forest for quite a while and having several books on poisons. Varielle hasn't found much use of the poisons at her home, so she keeps it locked away, and only takes one out if someone finds her home and she still doesn't trust them after seeing them for about three days.

History:

Varielle Larouche lived a fairly simple life. When she was little, she and her parents lived among other witches. Her mom was a witch, who fought against the Witch hunters while her dad was a Witch Hunter. Her mother was rather decent until she let the power get to her. This led to growing conflict between her parents. At times, her parents would get along and so did with Varielle and her mother. But her mother continued to change. Varielle started to grow scared of her mother. This started when she was around 6. Eventually, her mother grew a grudge against humans and started killing humans, attempting to kill Varielle's dad. With no choice, her father killed her mom.

About two years later, her father died as well from fighting some witches. As a result, varielle ended up living in an orphanage until she turned 12 years old. She hated the way of living there, with all the other kids who teased her with their powers or just teased her in general. She was treated differently than when she was at home, and even at a young age, she never really communicated so she left at the age of 12. She had managed to find this old abandoned home on the outskirts of town by a forest where no one really ventures too. Varielle lives by herself now and uses her magic to take care of the house. She lives there to this day.

Extra stuff

The scar on the palm of her right hand came from a shard of glass that cut her, while one of her parents fights scared her. She knocked down a glass flower vase by accident while backing away from her parents and landed next to it, her hand landing on a thick shard.
